Description
Project Description Chappelle Auditorium, a National Historic Landmark at Allen University, was designed in the 1920s by the “dean of black architects” John Anderson Lankford. To address deterioration of the Auditorium, Allen University commissioned designs for new MEP systems, as well as architectural designs for the restoration of exterior and interior features. The Auditorium roof (and the iconic 7,300-sf, 700-seat Auditorium) were completed via the design-build delivery method, while other components of the restoration were completed using traditional construction. The project spanned over 8 years and required approvals from the SC Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) and the US Department of the Interior.
